Before & After: Annexing The Annex
When the owner of this beautiful Victorian home in the Annex asked me to help her refresh her house, I was thrilled. We brought new life to this tired space without any significant changes, purely cosmetic, and with budget in mind.
The space was already well laid out. What needed updating were the finishes. Having purchased the house newly renovated a decade ago, everything down to the paint was left as was when bought. With an eye for design and a love of art, my client and I worked together to recreate the space so she could enjoy it for years.
What I love about sharing a project like this with you is showing how big a difference a few coats of paint and some new tiles can make. You don't have to break the bank to create a unique design for your home. Enjoy!
The Living Room
In the living room, the paint helped immediately brighten up the space. The existing rug was light and should have been bright, but with all the neutral tones and slight variation, the room was not being showcased. The rug we found at Elte was love at first sight for me and my client. We instantly had our jumping-off point, and from there, we were able to incorporate a variety of neutral tones, contrasted and accented with the new accent chairs and graphic coffee table.

The Dining Room
The dining room had many elements that worked; all we needed to change was the table. My client had made a quick purchase to fill the space when moving into the home, and it was no longer doing the job. The new table extends from 79"-100" and has a brilliant hidden leaf. The table bridged the gap between our new kitchen and living room, adding warmth and texture.

The Kitchen
The kitchen was the catalyst for this project, and the backsplash had to go. Without changing anything else in the kitchen we decided to go with something neutral and more to my client's liking. The pendant light, though sparkly, did not offer much light, and at the back end of this semi, we needed all the light we could get!

The Primary Bedroom
The primary bedroom had some sentimental pieces and a beautiful bay window. This room needed a proper closet and a key to bedroom functionality. The custom millwork wardrobe wall completely opened the space and created TONS of storage. This space is elegant and luxurious, unlike the downstairs areas, which had graphic, artistic accents. We incorporated the rich blue velvet headboard into the space, using the vintage settee in the window and the chandelier as inspiration.
